How to wire up your G25 shifter for external e-brake (hand brake)

This Modification is intended for those who wish to add an external e-brake to their racing wheel

Tools Needed:

- Allen wrenchs (Hex key)
- #1 Philips screwdriver
- Wire cutter
- Razor blade / wire stripper
- Soldering iron

Instructions:

Opening the shifter

1. Undo four screws and remove the lower table clamp.

2. Remove both silding table clamps by twisting the top knobs while holding the lower cap-nut with a 10mm wrench.

3. Remove the shift know by lifting the plastic cap and unscrewing a Philips screw underneath.

4. Remove shift boot with 2.5mm Allen wrench.

5. Three Philips screws underneath, remove them.

6. Flip the unit over and remove all eight screws.

7. Lift up the upper enclosure with a little bit of wiggle, there are wires connected to the underside of the button panel, be careful.

8. Unplug all three connectors to be on the safe side.

Tapping into the circuit board

9. Prepard your wires. Any scrap will do, preferably small gauge (24+) and felxable.
Make sure it's long enough to reach to outside of the enclosure.

10. Remove all screws and gently wiggle out the circuit board.

11. Most console racing games use circle (O) button to activate e-brake, lets tap into it.
* Simply trace the circult route if you wish to use a different button.

12. Solder on the bottom side of the surface-mounted resister (R94)
* DO NOT overheat or cross the resister(s).

13. Flip the circuit board over and solder the other wire to this pin for ground.

14. Add some hot glue to secure the wires to circuit board to prevent solder point from breaking

15. Route wires as shown to avoid any obstacles between the circurt board and the enclosure.
Fasten all mounting screws.

14. Snake the wires to outside of the enclosure though this small gap under the metal plate.

15. Reconnect all three connectors.

21. Reinstall the adjustment knob and reassemble the enclosure.

22. That's it! Shorting these two wires will trigger circle button,
just use your creativity and wire them up to your hand brake lever!

I used a hand brake assembly from a Honda S2000. Conveniently,
Honda uses a on-when-released switch to trigger the indicator light on the dashboard, which is perfect for triggering the in-game e-brake.

I would assume most (if not all) Honda hand brakes use similar switches.

Happy drifting!
